Standard tessellation language files are used to print three-dimensional objects with smooth surfaces. First, an artist draws the object using a computer-assisted design program. When CAD designs are saved as STL files for 3D printing, the surfaces of the object are rendered as hundreds or even thousands of logically arranged triangles. The triangular facets of an STL file accurately represent the curving surface geometry of a printable dildo.
